    – Norsta Ship Supply, the Norwegian based service company to the Marine, Offshore, and Energy sectors, delivers another project in Norway. The company offers a wide range of marine services, including international deliveries.     Ship chandler project to Hoyanger and Sunndalsora, Norway

    — Norsta Ship Supply has successfully completed a chandler project to a Germany based operator based in Hamburg, as a returning client, for assisting with their bulker vessel, en-route Norway.

    The ship, (see picture, with courtesy of Marine Traffic) in which Norsta has served during November 2019, the “MV Nordschelde” is a China-built hull, handysize class, from 2013. She is equipped with a Wärtsilä 6RTA48T-Diesel engine and measuring 190 x 28 meters overall. A vessel with a bulk capacity of 37.500 deadweight ton (DWT).

    The ship is one out of 55 in the owner’s fleet, including segments of; Bulkers, product, and chemical tankers, as well as container ships, spanning in size from 1700 – 3500 Twenty-Foot Equivalent Unit (TEU).

    Voyage and bulk cargo details, Brazil – Norway

    The MV Nordschelde, which is believed to be a Hydro chartered vessel,  did a port call, North of Fortaleza, Brazil — and just South of the equator borderline, in late October 2019. Namely at the port of Vila do Conde, which lies at the end of Baja de Marajó at Brazil’s North/East coast. A strait from the Atlantic Ocean, at a port that is placed at the Ponta Grossa industry area at the municipality of Barcarena.

    The loading of alumina bulk cargo, which is the raw material for aluminium and produced from bauxite, was executed at Hydro Alunorte plant. (see picture, the port of Alunorte, with courtesy of Hydro, Alunorte). A refinery which is one out of two Hydro units at Barcarena in the State of Pará.

    According to the Hydro Alunorte South America division, the port is the main outlet of Hydro’s alumina and aluminium production in Brazil, (…) and is the world’s largest alumina refinery outside China. (source, Hydro Alunorte).

    Port call Norway

    So, back to the ship —  after an overseas sailing of about 20 days, the vessel called the port of Hydro Hoyanger, in Norway. While at the Hoyanger port terminal, Norsta had done its preplanning. Together with skillful help from local partners and the ship Agents. Norsta Ship Supply provided five pallets of provisions, with fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as most of the food categories. Norsta also supplied “bonded store” and “transit goods” to the crew of 21 people.

    After a minor stop at Hoyanger, which is situated in the beautiful fjords of Sogn, the ship continues her sailing up North. Loaded with fresh provisions and with a pilot, she entering Norway fjords between Alesund and Kristiansund, namely at the fjords of Tingvoll — Calling the port of Hydro Sunndalsora. While she is there and discharges her bulk cargo, Norsta Ship Supply had a cabin store delivery as well, through local partners and Ship Agents assisting at the port.

    Hydro Sunndal is one out of 14 Hydro aluminium plants in Norway, and bulk cargo is being distributed according to the plant’s production needs, at any one time. As such, changes and rerouting of port calls happen frequently. Norsta needs to act efficiently with high flexibility and delivery precision on these kinds of operations.
